Stefan Menger was first exposed to international folk dancing in the early 80s while attending workshops for young musicians. After having enjoyed several workshops covering Israeli, Russian, Romanian and German folk dances as well as Rock'n Roll, he started Square Dancing with the Gemener Burgtänzer in 1984 and received his Square Dance Mainstream Graduation in 1988.

As early as 1984, Stefan began to organize and lead (i.e. "call") Square Dances. Since then he has called numerous dances and special events, and he has led classes for many clubs in Germany including Gemener Burgtänzer, Borken, Pumpernickel Promenaders, Münster, and Open Squares, Osterholz Scharmbeck.

In the early 90s, Stefan and his family lived near London in England. During that time, Stefan organized and led Square Dances as well as classes for the Richmond Adult Community College, Chain Eights SDC, Northolt and 6T6 SDC, Isleworth.

In the mid-90s, the Menger family moved to the United States for good. Stefan now calls for clubs and groups in the Exton / Downingtown / West Chester / Lancaster / Allentown / Philadelphia / Wilmington region.

Stefan is available short and long term for regular and special club events, introductory evenings and courses as well as for private occasions. His experience ranges from birthdays parties (kids and adults) to corporate parties and from weddings over anniversaries to fund raisers.

After Square Dancing, music performance is one of Stefan's favorite pastimes. He is a founding member and plays the cello with the Chester County Strings and is highly proficient in performing both classical and modern choir music. In Germany, Stefan was a member of the Chamber Choir of the Music Academy of Münster. After moving to the US, he joined several semi-professional chamber choirs. Stefan is also an aspiring bluegrass banjo picker. Another of his exciting music-adventures was playing as a supernumery in the AIDA production of the Opera Company of Philadelphia.

When nothing musical is scheduled and there is enough wind, you will often find Stefan windsurfing on Marsh Creek Lake. Or watch the sky where you might be able to see him flying.
